Your Divemaster course will consist of dive theory, workshops & practical applications. You will have a dedicated experienced instructor to work with you and mentor you throughout your training.
Usually your Divemaster course will take a minimum of 3 weeks to complete, but a 2 week intensive option is possible if you already meet all of the above prerequisites. Total duration will depend on your current certification level, number of logged dives and comfort level in the water - we are happy to tailor a dive package for you which will give you all the necessary experience and confidence in the water to become a diving professional. Prepare for your course and gain a good understanding of dive theory
When you sign up to become a Divemaster you will receive access to two digital learning packages: 1) Dive Guide theory: this contains a wealth of useful information how to lead dives and provide customers with a great experience, as well as preventing and managing diving emergencies. 2) Science of Diving: this provides an in-depth and detailed study of physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and diving equipment.
As part of your Divemaster course you will complete 5 waterskills evaluations
1) Tread water for 15 minutes without using any aids or flotation of any kind.
2) Swim 700 meters without stopping within 20 minutes using a mask, fins and a snorkel.
3) Swim 375 meters without stopping, and without any swim aids.
4) Swim underwater for 25 meters using a mask, fins and snorkel.
5) Perform a full, unconscious-diver-on-the-surface rescue with a total distance of 100 meters within eight minutes.
Perform all of the skills listed on the SSI Open Water Diver program cue card with expert diver-level quality
At Carriacou Scuba we place great emphasis on skills mastery.
Over the space of several training sessions, we will work with you to make sure you are comfortable demonstrating all Open Water Diver skills to expert standard and become a master of buoyancy control.
We will also complete a snorkelling skills workshop to build your confirdence in the water and add to your skills set.
Demonstrate skills from the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue program with expert diver-level quality.
You will complete the following exercises:
Assisting a Struggling or Panicked Diver (Surface and Underwater)
Bringing an Unconscious Diver to the Surface
Unconscious Diver on the Surface
Transporting an Unconscious Diver
Removing an Unconscious Diver from the Water
Missing Diver Search
Deliver dive briefings & learn how to guide great dives
You will learn how to to prepare, organize, and present dive briefngs for any dive site. You will complete a number of guided dives with certified divers to hone your marine life spotting skills, help you pace your dive, and provide an enjoyable experience for your divers and yourself!
You will gain experience to help you work as part of an effective dive team, assess and evaluate dive sites, choose a dive appropriate for your divers' abilites & water conditions, how to handle yourself in currents, and debrief your divers after a dive.
Become a part of the dive team, dive every day & assist on courses
Become a part of our dive team! The minimum duration of an internship is 1 month following completion of your Divemaster course. During this time you will get involve in dive schedule planning, guiding dives, assisting on courses, as well as getting an introduction to basic equipment maintenance, compressor operation and boat handling.
What's more, when you complete your internship with us, you will be eligible to dive with us for free for life!
